Wills – Why should I make a will – my last will and testament? Although there are many reasons to make your last will and testament, the most important are: 1) general family reasons; 2) appointment of legal guardians of children; 3) to take advantage of tax savings; and 4) to prevent problems for the people you left behind.

Lasting Powers of Attorney – In the last will and testament, one should create a Lasting Power of Attorney. There are two types of Powers of Attorney. They are Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney and Property and Financial Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney.

Probate – The term probate means a legal document issued to one or more people (called the executors) by the Probate Registry authorising them to deal with the administration of the estate.

The Probate Registry grants probate. This is known as the grant of representation, but can only do so after seeing legal proof that you are the executor. Once the Probate Registry confirms the executor, the executor can begin the administration of the estate.
